About Yoga
near Denver Colorado

Yoga is an ancient art, science and philosophy for creating harmony between body and mind so that we achieve self realization, or freedom. Creating this balance is the aim of the yoga postures, or asanas. The body and mind are in a state of constant interaction. Yoga science considers the body as an integrated entity encompassing the physical, mental, intellectual, psychological and spiritual parts. The physical act of performing the asanas has the beneficial effect of toning the body, strengthening the bones and muscles, correcting the posture, alleviating pain and improving breathing and energy. These benefits help create physical well-being and calm the mind. When the mind is calm we approach life from a place of peace.
Yoga and Stress
Modern life creates various obstacles to balance. Though we live in technologically advanced society with many time saving devices, this achievement has created problems such as competition, financial strain, emotional stress, environmental pollution and an overall hectic pace of life. When stress is experienced for an extended period of time, or becomes chronic, it can produce anger, frustration, irritation, physical pain and anxiety.
Yoga helps create a sense of balance in several ways. The asanas, or postures, move and stretch the body in ways that bring increased blood flow to the muscles and organs thus revitalizing all the cells of the body. Pranayama, or breath control, helps to sooth the mind and relax the nervous system. Relaxation techniques help to reduce muscle tension, increase circulation and quiet the brain. Regular practice of yoga will bring a sense of ease to the body and mind and liberate the soul.
